Special Weather Statement
Special Weather Statement issued April 23 at 4:37AM EDT by NWS Buffalo NY
Dry conditions again today will continue to dry out fine fules, such as leaf litter and grass. This will combine with southerly wind gusts of 30 to 35 mph and afternoon relative values of 25 to 30 percent to elevate fire weather concerns. If any fires were to start...the dry windy weather would increase the risk of wildfire spread...making it difficult to contain. The annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14th. No burn permits are issued.

Low relative humidity values of 20 to 30 percent and gusty south winds of 20 to 25mph, locally to 30 mph in the northern Champlain Valley and St. Lawrence Valley, may have an impact on fire weather conditions today. If any fires were to start the weather and fuel conditions could cause fires to quickly get out of control and be difficult to contain. Special Weather Statement issued April 23 at 3:20AM EDT by NWS Binghamton NY
Dry conditions with gusty winds are expected across the region today. Minimum relative humidity values will drop as low as 20 percent in some areas with south to southwest wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph during the afternoon. Although this Spring has been wet, fine fuels such as dead grass and leaf litter will quickly dry out in these conditions. If any fires were to start, the windy and dry weather will increase the risk of wildfire spread, making it difficult to contain. The annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14th. No burn permits are issued.
