Portneuf River at Topaz affecting Bannock County. * WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt continues. * WHERE...Portneuf River at Topaz. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 3.5 feet, Near bankfull from Pebble Creek Road downstream to Inkom. Isolated ponding in flat areas near Symons Road. At 4.0 feet, Lowland and crop field flooding possible from Pebble Creek to Inkom. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:15 PM MDT Tuesday the stage was 3.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to hover just below flood stage of 4.0 feet through early next week. - Action stage is 3.5 feet. - Flood stage is 4.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity for the following rivers in Idaho... Portneuf River at Pocatello affecting Bannock County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Portneuf River at Pocatello. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Significant flooding of agricultural land will occur from the Inkom and Blackrock area. Lowland flooding will occur along sections of the river in Pocatello from Portneuf Gap to the Cheyenne Avenue Bridge and downstream of the concrete channel beginning at Sacajawea Park. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:00 PM MDT Tuesday the stage was 9.9 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 1:00 PM MDT Tuesday was 10.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 10.0 feet tomorrow morning. It will then rise to 10.3 feet Friday, April 26. Additional rises are possible thereafter. - Flood stage is 8.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.1 feet on 02/02/1963. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued April 16 at 1:45PM MDT by NWS Pocatello ID

A Canadian cold front will drop south tonight and expect a return of snow to the mountains of eastern Idaho. Snow levels will start out at around 7 thousand feet but drop to under 5 thousand feet by morning and between midnight tonight and midnight Wednesday night snow amounts of 1 to 3 inches below 7 thousand feet and 3 to 5 inches above 7 thousand feet are possible. There will be the potential for snow covered roads for the morning commute on Wednesday morning.
