Little Wabash River below Clay City affecting Clay and Richland Counties. .Recent rainfall of 1 to 3 inches across the Little Wabash River basin has resulted in significant rises since Wednesday morning. Minor flooding developed along the river near Clay City earlier this morning, and is likely to persist for several days. The following forecasts are based on observed precipitation, soil moisture conditions, and forecast precipitation. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Little Wabash River below Clay City. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, North Clay Road, 1 mile east of the gage, is flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:45 AM CST Thursday the stage was 19.2 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 10:45 AM CST Thursday was 19.2 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.2 feet Saturday morning. - Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

Minor flooding on the lower reaches of the basin will develop this afternoon, and continue into early next week. The fog could lead to potentially hazardous travel conditions, so be sure to slow down if you encounter dense fog.
