* WHAT...Heavy snow and blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches with localized amounts reaching two feet above 9,500ft. West winds gusting as high as 60 to 70 mph. * WHERE...Northern and Southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and Tusas Mountains Including Chama. * WHEN...Until 8 PM MST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Whiteout or near-blizzard conditions are likely at times. Travel is strongly discouraged and will likely become impossible. Some roads will likely be closed. Significant travel delays are possible. Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. Very strong winds could cause extensive damage to trees and power lines.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 8 PM MST TUESDAY FOR THE EASTERN PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... .Critical fire weather conditions will return across the eastern plains of New Mexico on Tuesday. Winds will be stronger than today, with gusts of 55 to 65 mph common. Relative humidity will again be somewhat marginal in a 15 to 20 percent range, but strong winds will be capable of carrying fire in dry grasses and fine fuels. * AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Plains (Zone 104) and East Central Plains (Zone 126) from 9 AM to 8 PM MST Tuesday. * 20 FOOT WINDS...West at 35 to 45 mph with occasional gusts of 55 to 65 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values of 15 to 20 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
