Morven, GA Warnings, Watches and Advisories
SAFETY and DATA MESSAGE
Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water depth or fast flowing water/mud/debris from a flash flood will make road conditions unsafe. Do not rely soley on data presented here or other third-party websites - always check your official national and local weather service agency website, socials, radio and/or TV stations for making critical decisions related to weather events.
Please carefully read each posted Warning and Alert as it relates to the area(s) being affected. We may provide a wider range of issued severe weather warnings for surrounding cities and counties, so some alerts may not directly impact this location. This is done to help with preparing for severe weather that may overlap or be heading towards Morven.
Use the Radar Maps link provided to understand the trajectory of a storm.
Special Weather Statement
Special Weather Statement issued January 23 at 3:58AM EST by NWS Charleston SC
Low temperatures in the teens across many areas early this morning will remain below freezing through mid to late morning. As a result, many roadways will remain hazardous for travel with compact snow/ice, including black ice. This includes primary roads, secondary roads, and back roads, plus bridges, and overpasses. Black ice is difficult to see and distinguish from dry surfaces. The deceptive nature of black ice can catch you unaware while you are driving or walking, causing you to lose control of your motor vehicle, or to slip and fall.

Special Weather Statement
Special Weather Statement issued January 23 at 3:45AM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Another very cold morning is expected across the area with temperatures forecast to drop into the teens. Some shaded secondary and less traveled roads still have wet spots on them that will quickly freeze as temperatures fall. If traveling across the area this morning, use extra caution. Road surfaces that appear damp are likely to be covered in black ice. Slow down and allow for plenty of space between you and other vehicles if black ice is encountered.

Special Weather Statement
Special Weather Statement issued January 22 at 10:05PM EST by NWS Charleston SC
Low temperatures tonight will drop into the teens across many areas, and remaining below freezing through mid to late Thursday morning. As a result, many roadways will be refrozen, with hazardous travel conditions expected.

Another very cold night is in store for the area, with temperatures forecast to dip into the teens. Some shaded secondary and less traveled roads still have wet spots on them that will quickly freeze as temperatures fall. If traveling across the area tonight into Wednesday morning, including during the morning commute, use extra caution. Road surfaces that appear damp are likely to be covered in black ice. Slow down and allow for plenty of space between yourself and other vehicles if black ice is encountered.

Special Weather Statement issued January 22 at 5:11PM EST by NWS Columbia SC
There has been some melting snow this afternoon but as temperatures quickly fall below freezing tonight, expect any lingering water on roadways to refreeze. This could create hazardous travel conditions especially on secondary roads, bridges, and overpasses. This is more likely to occur in the eastern Midlands and CSRA where the higher snowpack is located. Black ice is difficult to see and distinguish from dry surfaces. The deceptive nature of black ice can catch you unaware while you are driving or walking, causing you to lose control of your motor vehicle or to slip and fall.

While there has been some melting of snow and ice covered roads this afternoon, temperatures will quickly fall back below freezing late this afternoon. With low temperatures tonight in the low to mid teens, any liquid remaining on roadways will quickly refreeze. Widespread hazardous travel conditions are expected across the area, including primary and secondary roads, bridges and overpasses. Black ice is difficult to see and distinguish from dry surfaces.
