Red Flag Warning issued April 27 at 5:41AM MDT until April 27 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa NM

...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ON SATURDAY... .West flow increasing again on Saturday as an upper level low pressure system crosses the Southern Rockies. Winds speeds increasing during much of the daytime hours, with gusts over 45 mph across much of southern New Mexico and far west Texas. Conditions remain dry during the day with relative humidity dropping to 10 to 15% mid-afternoon. Fuel conditions are dry due to lack of rainfall in the past month as well as the precedent drought status. The combination of weather factors and dry grassland, brush, and timber will lead to critical fire danger and risk of new fire starts and rapid spread. * WIND...West at 20 to 35 mph with gusts to 45 to 50 mph. * HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent. * EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...5 to 6 Critical in South-Central New Mexico and Far West Texas desert lowlands. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR TODAY BETWEEN NOON AND 8 PM FOR THE NORTHEAST AND EAST CENTRAL PLAINS DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE... .Critical fire weather conditions return this afternoon and evening for the Northeast and East Central Plans of New Mexico. Strong southwest winds will develop as a storm system crosses the Four Corners region. Additionally, humidity readings will once again dip down below 15 percent. Improving conditions are expected this evening as a cold front passes lowering temperatures and raising humidity values. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from noon today to 8 PM MDT this evening. * AREA AND TIMING...This includes the Northeast Plains (Zone 104) this afternoon and evening. * 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 10 and 15 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Expect minor flooding downstream from the dam. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast from snow melt and water release. * WHERE...Rio Chama below Chamita. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 6.0 feet, PROPERTIES IN FLOOD PLAIN ALONG RIO CHAMA AND NEAR THE JUNCTION OF RIO OJO CALIENTE WILL SEE WATER IN THEIR YARDS. BANK EROSION IS POSSIBLE. DAMAGE TO WELLS AND SEPTIC TANKS IS POSSIBLE. THESE IMPACTS WILL INCREASE IN SEVERITY AT HIGHER LEVELS. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 PM MDT Friday the stage was 5.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 5.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage just after midnight tonight and continue rising to 6.5 feet Monday morning. Expect minor flooding downstream from the dam. * WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt continues. * WHERE...Rio Chama Below Abiquiu Dam. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 4.8 feet, BANKFULL STAGE, 1800 CFS. HOUSES NEAR HIGHWAY 84 ALONG RIVER WILL SEE WATER BEGIN TO ENCROACH THEIR YARDS. CATTLE THAT WANDER ACROSS THE RIVER AT LOWER FLOWS WILL BE TRAPPED ON THE OTHER SIDE. IF FLOWS OUT OF RIO OJO CALIENTE ARE 550 CFS OR HIGHER, PROPERTIES NEAR AND BELOW THE CONFLUENCE OF THE RIO CHAMA AND RIO OJO CALIENTE MAY SEE FLOODING IN THEIR LAND AND SIGNIFICANT BANK EROSION. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:15 PM MDT Friday the stage was 4.8 feet. - Bankfull stage is 4.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to remain steady below flood stage at 4.8 feet. - Action stage is 4.8 feet. - Flood stage is 5.4 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
