...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR ALL OF NORTHERN LOWER MICHIGAN... .Very high fire danger will be in place across northern Michigan through early this evening. Sunny/mostly sunny skies today will combine with southwest winds of 10-18 mph with gusts from 25 to 30 mph to promote efficient mixing this afternoon. Minimum RHs look to dip into the 20-25% range. Fine fuels are very dry. The National Weather Service in Gaylord has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect until 8 PM EDT this evening. * AFFECTED AREA...All of northern lower Michigan. * WIND...Southwest winds of 10 to 18 mph with gusts to 25 to 30 mph. * HUMIDITY...as low as 20 to 25 percent. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Dry conditions and breezy winds will lead to elevated fire concerns today. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 to 25 mph are forecast for this afternoon and early evening. Mimimum relative humidity values of 25 to 30 percent are also expected by mid-afternoon. These condtions could lead to the rapid spread of fires.
