Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued April 23 at 1:52PM EDT by NWS Upton NY

The combination of low relative humidity between 25 and 30 percent and south winds gusting around 20 mph will result in an enhanced risk of wildfire spread. If any fires were to start the weather and fuel conditions could cause fires to quickly get out of control and be difficult to contain. The annual NY statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14th. No burn permits are issued.

Special Weather Statement issued April 23 at 11:42AM EDT by NWS Binghamton NY

Dry conditions with gusty winds are expected across the region today. Minimum relative humidity values will drop as low as 20 percent in some areas with south to southwest wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph during the afternoon. If any fires were to start, the windy and dry weather will increase the risk of wildfire spread, making it difficult to contain. The annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14th. No burn permits are issued.
