At 1143 AM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located 3 miles west of Platte Center, or 12 miles northwest of Columbus, moving north at 15 mph. HAZARD...Damaging tornado and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Emergency management and trained spotters confirmed tornado. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely. This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of central Platte County, including the following locations... At 1138 AM CDT, automated weather stations have been reporting gusty winds along a line extending from near Alda to near Blue Hill to 7 miles south of Red Cloud. Movement was east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Automated Weather Station. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Strong thunderstorms will be near... Grand Island, Hastings, Doniphan, Glenvil, Lawrence, Guide Rock, Trumbull, Inland, and Hansen around 1145 AM CDT. Phillips and Deweese around 1150 AM CDT. Harvard, Fairfield, Giltner, and Bostwick around 1155 AM CDT. Other locations in the path of these storms include Clay Center, Edgar, Nelson, Aurora, Superior, Saronville, Nora, Sutton, Marquette, Oak, Ong, Stockham, Webber, Hampton, Davenport, Hardy, Ruskin and Shickley.
