ESFLOT Several waves of rain, and possibly a few thunderstorms, are likely starting early Wednesday morning and persisting through Thursday night. High moisture content in the atmosphere will lead to periods of torrential downpours, and the threat for 1 to 3 inches of rainfall on a widespread basis through Thursday night. Repeated rounds of rain over saturated soils may lead to areas of flooding and rises in river levels, including along the Rock, Fox, DuPage, and Illinois rivers. This outlook means that elevated water levels and potential impacts are possible, but not yet certain. Persons should closely monitor forecasts including the possibility of flood watches, warnings, and advisories. Additional statements or outlooks may be issued by tomorrow morning.

Flood Warning issued September 29 at 9:55AM CDT until October 1 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Illinois... Des Plaines River near Russell affecting Lake IL County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Des Plaines River from IL/WI state line downstream to US-41 in Gurnee, including the Russell gauge. * WHEN...Until Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 7.0 feet, Low-lying wetlands and agricultural land is inundated near the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 7.4 feet. - Forecast...The river will slowly fall below flood stage towards the end of the week. However, additional rainfall is expected Wednesday and Thursday, which may result in renewed rises. - Flood stage is 7.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
