We may provide a wider range of issued severe weather warnings for surrounding cities and counties, so some alerts may not directly impact this location. This is done to help with preparing for severe weather that may overlap or be heading towards Point Pinos Coast Guard Light Station.

High Surf Advisory issued November 8 at 1:40AM PST until November 8 at 9:00PM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA

* WHAT...Large breaking waves of 8-12 feet with dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches. Highest across northwest facing beaches. * WHEN...Until 9 PM PST Saturday. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk for ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large breaking waves can cause injury, wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats near shore. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Minor tidal overflow is possible during peak high tide Saturday morning between 10am and 12pm.

Coastal Flood Advisory

Coastal Flood Advisory issued November 7 at 9:57PM PST until November 8 at 2:00PM PST by NWS Eureka CA

* WHAT...High astronomical tides will cause minor flooding in low lying areas around Humboldt Bay. Up to one quarter foot of saltwater inundation above ground level is possible near shorelines and tidal waterways. Between 8.7 and 9.0 feet MLLW at the North Spit tide gauge is predicted. * WHERE...Northern Humboldt Coast County. * WHEN...From noon to 2 PM PST Saturday. High tide is at 12:48 PM at the Humboldt Bay North Spit tide gauge. Saltwater inundation will be possible 1 to 2 hours before and after high tide. * IMPACTS...Flooding of low lying areas around Humboldt Bay including parks and roads with only isolated closures expected. Flooding will likely impact Jackson Ranch Road in the Arcata Bottoms and several roads in King Salmon.

* WHAT...A long period westerly swell will result in an increased risk for sneaker waves and rip currents with breaking waves of 14 to 19 feet. In favored locations breaking waves could reach 25 feet. * WHERE...Coastal North Bay and San Francisco Peninsula Coast. * WHEN...Until 9 AM PST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can unexpectedly run significantly farther up the beach than normal, including over rocks and jetties. Rip currents are typically more frequent and stronger in the vicinity of jetties, inlets, and piers.
