Q) How often is the map updated?
A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?
A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?
A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?
A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google or MapQuest. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

Ramp Closed on US-70 In Durham
The bridge will be demolished to complete the new US 70 corridor as part of the East End Connector Project.
DETOUR: Take exit NC 98 towards Durham, take a left onto N. Miami Blvd.

Congestion on SR-2220 South of Durham
Motorists are to be made aware of construction on roadway improvements on Old Chapel Hill Road between Pope Road and Garrett Road. Lane closures can be expected during the daytime between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Friday. Some weekend and nighttime lane closures may be expected if necessary.
DETOUR: If traffic is heavy, a suggested detour route is Garrett Road to US 15-501 to Old Durham Road (in Orange County).

Road Closed with Detour on NC-751 In Durham
The Department will close the intersection of NC 751 (Hope Valley Road) and SR 1183 (University Drive) starting Monday, March 4 in order to reconfigure the intersection into a roundabout. Construction is expected to take place for approximately eight months. It is expected that the intersection will reopen November 1st, 2019.

Road Closed with Detour on NC-55 In Durham
The Department will be closing Pettigrew Street over Alston Avenue while a new bridge is being constructed. Local traffic will have access for the duration of the closure. Road opening is currently delayed due to a utility conflict.

Lane Closed on NC-55 In Durham
The Department is widening NC 55 (Alston Avenue) from NC 147 (I.L. 'Buck' Dean Freeway) to north of NC 98 (Holloway Street) in Durham. The project is expected to take three years to complete. Expect periodic lane closures on NC 55, NC 98, Liberty St, Main St, and Angier Ave throughout the life of the project on Monday - Friday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and Saturday - Sunday all hours. Also expect periodic lane closures on NC 147 Monday - Friday 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM and Saturday - Sunday 8:00 PM to 10:00 AM. No lane closures are expected during holidays and other high traffic special events. Motorists are urged to be alert and drive cautiously when traveling through a work zone.

W Eva St will no longer have access to Alston Avenue starting on Monday, November 14th as part of the Alston Avenue widening project. Local traffic is to use Holloway St or Liberty St to Elm St in order to access Eva St.

Lanes Closed on I-85 In Durham
The Department will be installing temporary and permanent pavement markings on I-85 between Exits 173 and 178. Expect delays as lanes and ramps will be closed periodically. Work will only occur at night.
