...The National Weather Service in Elko NV has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Nevada... Humboldt River At Comus affecting Humboldt County. For the Lower Humboldt...including Comus...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring. * WHERE...Humboldt River at Comus. * WHEN...From this morning until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 10.0 feet, Minor to moderate lowland flooding throughout the reach. Some rural roads near the river begin to flood. Very minor flooding begins in Winnemucca with storm drain backups, and the lowest parts of town begin to flood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:15 AM PDT Saturday the stage was 9.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 8.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:15 AM PDT Saturday was 9.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to 10.2 feet late Wednesday evening. Additional rises are possible thereafter. - Flood stage is 9.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.2 feet on 06/21/1997. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Owyhee River near Mountain City affecting Elko County. .Recent rainfall combined with ongoing snow melt will keep river flows elevated through the weekend. For the Owyhee River...including Wildhorse, Mountain City...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is observed. * WHERE...Owyhee River near Mountain City. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 9.0 feet, Moderate flooding occurs along the river channel. River embankment erosion occurs. Rodeo grounds are flooded. Low-lying hay fields and pasture flooding occurs. Businesses located along the river in Mountain City experience water seepage. Water has to be pumped from the Visitor Center. River level is nearing the level of the Boney Lane Bridge spanning the Owyhee River, and Nevada State Highway 225 between Mountain City and Owyhee. Access to Pleasant Valley is impacted. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 3:40 AM PDT Saturday the stage was 8.6 feet. - Bankfull stage is 7.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 3:40 AM PDT Saturday was 8.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is forecast to fall below flood stage Friday. - Minor flood stage is 8.0 feet.
