Fire Weather Watch

Fire Weather Watch issued October 4 at 10:25PM CDT until October 5 at 8:00PM CDT by NWS Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN

...RED FLAG FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE ACROSS PORTIONS OF WESTERN MINNESOTA SATURDAY... .Winds will be elevated through the day on Saturday, which will allow for any fires that form to spread quickly. As a cold front passes across the region, expect relative humidity values to fall to near 25 percent. This combination of high winds and low humdities could create critical fire weather conditions. The uncertainty currently revolves around how long RH values will remain low. If this period is brief then it may remain near critical rather than Red Flag worthy on Saturday. * AFFECTED AREA...Chippewa, Lac Qui Parle, Redwood, Swift, Stevens, and Yellow Medicine Counties. * WIND...South shifting to the west sustained at 20-25 mph gusting to 40 mph. * HUMIDITY...As low as 20 to 25 percent. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
