* WHAT...Visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog. * WHERE...San Luis Obispo County Beaches, San Luis Obispo County Inland Central Coast, Santa Barbara County Central Coast Beaches, Santa Barbara County Inland Central Coast, and Santa Ynez Valley. * WHEN...Until 10 AM PST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous.

Air Quality Alert issued December 4 at 1:09PM PST by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA

* WHAT...The South Coast AQMD has extended a mandatory wood-burning ban for residents in the South Coast Air Basin. The No-Burn rule bans burning wood, pellets, and manufactured fire logs in any indoor or outdoor wood-burning device. * WHERE...The South Coast Air Basin, which includes Orange County and non-desert portions of Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. No-Burn Day alerts do not apply to areas above 3,000 feet in elevation, the Coachella Valley, or the High Desert. Homes that rely on wood as a sole source of heat, low-income households and those without natural gas service also are exempt from the requirement. * WHEN...until 11:59PM Thursday. * IMPACTS...Particles in smoke can get deep into the lungs and cause health problems (including asthma attacks), increases in emergency room visits, and hospitalizations. No-Burn Days are needed to protect public health when fine particle pollution levels are expected to be high anywhere in the South Coast Air Basin. No- Burn Days are based on fine particle pollution levels that are forecasted for an entire 24-hour period, which may not be reflected in real-time air quality maps.

Freezing Fog Advisory issued December 4 at 12:56PM PST until December 5 at 11:00AM PST by NWS Reno NV

* WHAT...Visibility one quarter mile or less in freezing fog. * WHERE...In California, Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties. In Nevada, Northern Washoe County and Western Nevada Basin and Range including Pyramid Lake. * WHEN...From 8 PM this evening to 11 AM PST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous, especially along Highway 447 from Wadsworth to Gerlach including Pyramid Lake, Highway 395 through the Honey Lake Valley from the CA-NV state line to Susanville, Highways 36 and 44 around Susanville, and I-80 near Fernley. Roads may also be slick. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Localized areas of freezing fog may still persist through Thursday evening.

Air Quality Alert issued December 3 at 10:53AM MST by NWS Phoenix AZ

The Imperial County Air Pollution Control District has declared a mandatory wood burning curtailment for residents within the Calexico area for Wednesday, December 4, 2024. The declaration of a Mandatory curtailment, when forecast indicate elevated levels of fine particulate air pollution in the region, is issued to protect the public health. Smoke from wood burning can cause health problems. Breathing high levels of pollution from wood smoke can cause breathing problems (including asthma attacks), worsened lung and heart disease symptoms, and may even increase emergency room visits and hospitalizations. The Mandatory Curtailment rule prohibits the operation of any wood burning appliances during the curtailment period. This prohibition does not apply to cookstoves and those devices exclusively gaseous- fueled.
