SR 45 closing to through traffic for bridge construction

SR 45 closing to through traffic for bridge construction

State Route 45 at Cordray's Pond and the Ichawaynochaway Creek is closing to through traffic March 19 for replacement of two 65-year-old bridges.

Construction will require closing the road throughout the limits of construction, milepost 16.5 to 17, for at least 10 months.  A detour route will be posted along SR 45, SR 234, SR 55 and SR 37.

The Georgia Department of Transportation in October 2017 awarded a $9.4 million construction contract to Kiewit Infrastructure South Co. to replace the aging bridges. One is over Cordray's Pond and the other is over the pond overflow (Ichawaynochaway Creek). Both are posted with weight limits. They were designed using truck configurations that weigh less than the current legal state truck weights.

Turner Co: Major I-75 Resurfacing

I-75 resurfacing scheduled to begin in Turner County

Cracks, raveling and other road deficiencies that create a rough ride on Interstate 75 in Turner and Crisp counties will be eliminated with a resurfacing project scheduled to begin Sunday night, August 5th.

The project begins south of Exit 84/SR 159 in Turner County and ends north of Old Hatley Road in Crisp County, a distance of 14.47 miles. It includes ramps. Contractor Reeves Construction Co. plans to start on the northbound right (outside) shoulder around milepost 84 in Turner County, which will require closing the right lane.

No daytime lane closures will be permitted during the project. Single lane closures will be from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and double lane closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. At this time the contractor plans to work Sunday through Thursday, though that schedule is subject to change. Weather will also impact the schedule.

Resurfacing is not expected to begin on the southbound lanes until the northbound lanes are complete. The $19.2 million Georgia Department of Transportation project is expected to be finished April 30, 2019. This portion of I-75 hasn't been resurfaced since a widening/reconstruction project was completed in 2003.
