The combination of well-above normal temperatures and increased humidity values will produce Heat Index values up to 110 degrees for a few hours this afternoon across portions of Starr, Hidalgo, Brooks, and Kenedy counties. A few locations, especially along the border in Starr and Hidalgo counties, may briefly experience Heat Index values up to 113 degrees mid-afternoon. Remember to drink plenty of water, wear lightweight and light- colored clothing, and take frequent breaks from the heat. Children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.
