At 258 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a thunderstorm with torrential rainfall near Downtown Asheville, or near UNC-Asheville. This storm was nearly stationary. Locations to be impacted include... Downtown Asheville, West Asheville, North Asheville, Woodfin, Weaverville, B.R. Parkway-East Asheville To Craggy Gardens, Leicester, UNC-Asheville, Enka, and Candler. Torrential rainfall rates up to 3 inches per hour will be possible in these areas.

Flood Advisory issued May 4 at 2:14PM EDT until May 4 at 5:15PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of piedmont North Carolina, including the following county, Cleveland. * WHEN...Until 515 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 214 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... At 211 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7 miles east of Wadesboro, moving northeast at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 30 mph, heavy rainfall and minor flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Rockingham, Wadesboro, Mount Gilead, Ellerbe, Lilesville, Norman, Diggs, Blewett Falls Lake, Derby, and Covington.
