* WHAT...West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. * WHERE...Mojave Desert Slopes. * WHEN...From 2 PM this afternoon to 3 AM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult, particularly for high profile vehicles. Blowing dust will reduce visibilities at times. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Highways affected include, but are not limited to Highway 14, Highway 58 below Tehachapi Pass, including the town of Mojave, and Highway 178 below Walker Pass, including the town of Inyokern.

Beach Hazards Statement issued May 22 at 4:39AM PDT until May 22 at 2:00PM PDT by NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA

* WHAT...Strong and dangerous rip currents. Elevated surf of 3 to 6 feet. Waves will be largest and the risk of rip currents will be greatest on south and southwest facing shores. * WHERE...Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands, Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches. * WHEN...Until 2 PM PDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...There is an increased risk of ocean drowning. Rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Waves can wash people off beaches and rocks, and capsize small boats nearshore.
