Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued December 8 at 4:07PM EST by NWS Marquette MI

A low pressure system approaching Upper Michigan will bring a period of wet snowfall tonight with much of the snow accumulation occuring by midnight. Snow accumulations of 1 to locally 4 inches are expected. The greatest accumulations will occur in the high terrain between L'anse and Marquette, including locations such as Michigamme, Champion, Ishpeming and Negaunee. After midnight, lingering light snow will mix with or change to rain and drizzle to the west of Seney. The wet, dense snow that accumulates on roads during the evening will make for especially slippery road conditions, and the slippery road conditions may impact the Monday morning commute. If planning travel across northern Upper Michigan tonight into Monday morning, be prepared for slippery road conditions. Drive at reduced speeds and allow extra time to reach your destination.
