Get ready for a mix of rain and snow affecting our major routes! From California's coastal roads to the snowy passes of the Sierra, travelers will face wet conditions. Meanwhile, the Great Lakes and central Appalachians will experience snow, adding to the wintery commute. Across the central and southern U.S., temperatures soar above normal, ensuring clear roads, but keep an eye on potential rain along the Atlantic coast.
Travelers on Interstate 5 and State Route 99 in California should be cautious of moderate rainfall, which could lead to slick conditions through Wednesday. Heavy snow in the Sierra Nevada makes routes like U.S. Route 50 and Interstate 80 challenging. As the system moves inland, expect light rain and potentially wintry mixes in the lower elevations of the Intermountain West, impacting Interstate 15 and Interstate 70, especially near the Wasatch Range and central Rockies.
Wednesday will see lingering snow showers around the Great Lakes, especially impacting roads like Interstate 90 near Lakes Erie and Ontario. In the central Appalachians, routes such as U.S. Route 219 and Interstate 64 could see snow accumulations, causing slippery conditions.
Light showers will move through areas from the Carolinas to the Gulf Coast on Wednesday. Keep an eye out for moderate rainfall along the Atlantic coast impacting Interstate 95 and State Route 26, potentially leading to minor delays.
For the central and southern U.S., above-average temperatures mean mostly dry roads. Highways such as Interstate 35 and Interstate 40 will see clear skies and comfortable travel conditions. Be ready for warmer-than-usual temperatures in cities along these routes, with highs in the 60s and 70s.
