Dry conditions and breezy winds will lead to near critical fire weather conditions today. Easterly winds will increase through the day with gusts of 30 to 40 mph are forecast for this afternoon and tonight. Minimum relative humidity values of 18 to 28 percent are also expected. Together, these conditions could lead to the rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning. ...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS FAR NORTHERN MINNESOTA TUESDAY... .Relative humidity values have already fallen into the low 40s this morning and are expected to drop to around 20 percent with wind gusts of 30-40 MPH. These conditions will continue into early this evening. Conditions will improve once rainfall moves into the area this evening. The National Weather Service in Duluth has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect until 9 PM CDT this evening. * AFFECTED AREA...In Minnesota, Koochiching, North St. Louis, Northern Cook and Lake, North Itasca and Central St. Louis. * WINDS...East 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
