* WHAT...Up to one half foot of inundation above ground level
expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline.
* WHERE...Southwest Suffolk and Southern Nassau Counties.
* WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 1 AM EDT Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Brief minor flooding of the more vulnerable
locations near the waterfront and shoreline.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Water levels may approach or touch minor
coastal flood benchmarks the next couple of days during times
of high tide.
SAFETY and DATA MESSAGE
When a severe thunderstorm warning is issued, the storm may produce damaging winds, large hail, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain. In some cases, heavy rainfall produced by a severe storm can also lead to flash flooding. Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water depth or fast flowing water/mud/debris from a flash flood will make road conditions unsafe.
