High Surf Advisory issued March 28 at 2:56PM EDT until March 29 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC
* WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, large breaking waves of 6 to 9 feet in the surf zone. For the Coastal Flood Advisory, up to one to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in sound-side low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Areas along the Pamlico Sound on Hatteras Island. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until 2 PM EDT Friday. For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 AM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Up to 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways resulting in a low threat of property damage. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes adjacent to the waterfront will experience shallow flooding. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion.

Great Pee Dee River At Pee Dee affecting Marion and Florence Counties. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Cape Fear River at William O Huske Lock And Dam 3. * WHEN...From Friday afternoon to early Monday morning. * IMPACTS...At 45.0 feet, Flood waters will affect lowlands along the east bank of the river with some minor overflow along the west bank. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:00 AM EDT Thursday the stage was 35.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon to a crest of 44.9 feet early Saturday afternoon.
