Flash Flood Warning

Flash Flood Warning issued April 16 at 7:31PM AST until April 16 at 9:30PM AST by NWS San Juan PR

At 731 PM AST, Emergency management reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 5 inches of rain have fallen. Radar indicates showers persisting across the area with possible additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Latest reports indicate Flash Flooding occurring in PR-119, in Piedra Gorda in Camuy with a car trapped on the flooded road. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Emergency management reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of Puerto Rico, including the following counties, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Ciales, Florida and Manati. * WHEN...Until 1000 PM AST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 654 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Arecibo, Florida, Barceloneta, Manati, Ciales, La Alianza, Pajonal, Imbery, Bajadero, La Luisa, Coto Norte, Bufalo, Sabana Hoyos, Tiburones, Animas, Garrochales, Tierras Nuevas Poniente and Tierras Nuevas Pon. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 617 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
