Flood Watch issued May 1 at 3:08PM CDT until May 2 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Lake Charles LA

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Louisiana, including the following parishes, Allen, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Evangeline, Northern Calcasieu, Rapides and Vernon and southeast Texas, including the following areas, Hardin, Northern Jasper, Northern Newton, Northern Orange, Southern Jasper, Southern Newton, Tyler and Upper Jefferson. * WHEN...From 1 AM CDT Thursday through Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Convection is expected to develop over South Central Texas late today. This area of convection will scoot eastward beneath a lower level shortwave trof, arriving to southeast Texas Thursday morning. Ahead of the trof, lowering heights and deeply entrenched moisture over Louisiana will assist in the development of showers into central and southeast Texas late tonight. Showers and thunderstorms will spread into southeast Texas counties prior to sunrise Thursday morning and continue spreading eastward through the morning. Very rain-efficient conditions are expected with PWAT values 1.60 to 1.95 inches in place ahead of storms. Rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour will be possible and areas with ongoing flooding are urged to be mindful of very swiftly exacerbated flooding conditions. Current forecasts indicate the line will move fairly progressively, however, any deviation or slow- down of precipitation would likely result in another 2 to 4 inches of rain inside the flood watch area. Isolated higher amounts will be possible. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood
