Excessive Heat Warning issued June 19 at 4:09AM EDT until June 21 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Northern Indiana

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values of 95 to 102 through Friday. Low temperatures in the 70s at night will provide little relief from the heat. * WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat stress increases with the number of consecutive hot days. Peak afternoon heat indices may be more variable today due to potential isolated thunderstorms, but hot conditions are forecast again for Thursday through Saturday. The effects of heat are most impactful for more vulnerable urban populations.

An Air Quality Action Day for Ozone has been issued. Ozone levels are expected to be in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range. Active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma should limit prolonged outdoor exposure.
