...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT ACROSS EASTERN NEW MEXICO LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE... .Southwest winds increase Wednesday ahead of a disturbance over the Great Basin. Winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 40 to 45 mph, relative humidity falling to or below 10 percent for one to three hours, high Haines and dry fine fuels will likely result in critical fire weather conditions late Wednesday morning through early evening. Critical fire weather conditions wane after sunset as winds taper off and relative humidity rises. * AREA AND TIMING...Northeast Plains (Zone 104), Northeast Highlands (Zone 123), Central Highlands (Zone 125), and East Central Plains (Zone 126) late Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening. * 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with peak gusts of 35 to 45 mph Wednesday afternoon. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Falling to 6 to 10 percent Wednesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Rio Chama Below Chamita affecting Rio Arriba County. .Snow melt and increased reservoir releases will cause the river flows to become high. Expect minor flooding. * WHAT...Minor flooding is possible during the next 24 hours. * WHERE...Rio Chama below Chamita. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 5.5 feet, BANKFULL STAGE. PROPERTIES IMMEDIATELY ADJACENT TO THE RIVER UPSTREAM OF THE BRIDGE ON SR-74 AND ESPECIALLY NEAR THE JUNCTION WITH THE RIO OJO CALIENTE MAY SEE WATER ENCROACH ONTO LOW LYING AREAS. At 6.0 feet, PROPERTIES IN FLOOD PLAIN ALONG RIO CHAMA AND NEAR THE JUNCTION OF RIO OJO CALIENTE WILL SEE WATER IN THEIR YARDS. BANK EROSION IS POSSIBLE. DAMAGE TO WELLS AND SEPTIC TANKS IS POSSIBLE. Expect minor flooding downstream from the dam. * WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt continues. * WHERE...Rio Chama Below Abiquiu Dam. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 4.8 feet, THE RIVER IS AT BANKFULL STAGE, 1800 CFS. HOUSES NEAR HIGHWAY 84 ALONG RIVER WILL SEE WATER BEGIN TO ENCROACH THEIR YARDS. CATTLE THAT WANDER ACROSS THE RIVER AT LOWER FLOWS WILL BE TRAPPED ON THE OTHER SIDE.
