Rainfall continues to create hazardous situations across portions of Kodiak Island. Rainfall is expected to continue into tonight before tapering off early Saturday. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...The following area, Kodiak Island. This includes the city of Kodiak City. * WHEN...Through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Saturated soils and minor flooding continues in areas near Kodiak City. The conditions will remain conducive for rock slides and minor flooding into Saturday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Periods of light to moderate rain can be expected to continue across Kodiak Island through early Saturday morning. Soils across the Island are saturated and landslides are possible along with localized flooding of small streams and creeks. - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood - Stay away from steep barren hillsides due to the landslide danger.

Periods of heavy rainfall combined with high tides could bring flooding to low lying areas near Kodiak City. Low lying roads and homes near Bells Flats and coastal roads crossing rivers and streams could experience flooding, especially during high tide. * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Low lying areas around Kodiak City including Bells Flats and coastal roadways connecting to Kodiak City. * WHEN...Until 330 PM AKDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Possible isolated landslides in areas of steep terrain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 332 PM AKDT, satellite estimates and rain gauge data indicate heavy rain across the advisory area. This will cause small stream flooding in addition to overflowing of poor drainage areas. - Additional rainfall of up to 3 inches will be possible through Saturday morning.
