SAFETY and DATA MESSAGE

Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas. The water depth or fast flowing water/mud/debris from a flash flood will make road conditions unsafe. Do not rely soley on data presented here or other third-party websites - always check your official national and local weather service agency website, socials, radio and/or TV stations for making critical decisions related to weather events.

Please carefully read each posted Warning and Alert as it relates to the area(s) being affected. We may provide a wider range of issued severe weather warnings for surrounding cities and counties, so some alerts may not directly impact this location. This is done to help with preparing for severe weather that may overlap or be heading towards Wasilla.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by an ice jam is possible. * WHERE...Buckland * WHEN...Through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...Water may rise out of the banks of the Buckland River and cause flooding of surrounding low lying areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The Buckland River is slowly breaking up, with some open water in front of town. Directly upstream from town there is a mix of intact ice and open water and beyond that mostly open conditions towards the headwaters. Ice remains mostly intact downriver from Buckland, including at known jam points. -A local observer reports that water has come up two feet overnight 5/14 to 5/15, six more feet of rise will bring water levels over bank. Snow melt in the basin brings the potential for flooding as early as Friday if the intact ice below Buckland is strong enough to resist the push of water and ice. - Http://www.weather.gov/aprfc - Stay alert and be prepared to take action.
