Southerly winds of 5 to 15 mph with gusts of 20 mph and minimum relative humidity values as low as 20 percent will persist through the afternoon. Together, these conditions could lead to the rapid spread of fires. Check burning restrictions and fire danger before burning. ...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHERN MINNESOTA SATURDAY AFTERNOON... .Southerly winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts of 25 to 35 mph will combine with warm temperatures in the 70s and 80s to cause critical fire weather conditions across portions of southwest and south-central Minnesota Saturday afternoon. Afternoon humidity will fall into the 20s at most locations within the Red Flag Warning, and a few spots could reach the upper teens across southwest Minnesota. * AFFECTED AREA...Southwest and portions of south-central Minnesota. * WIND...South from 15 to 20 mph, gusting 25 to 35 mph. * HUMIDITY... 20 to 30 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

The combination of low relative humidity values, warm temperatures, southerly winds, and dry fuels will result in near-critical fire weather conditions this afternoon west of the Mississippi River. Afternoon relative humidity values will fall to around 25 percent with southerly winds of 15 to 20 mph, gusting to around 30 mph. Under these conditions, fires will start and spread easily. Please exercise caution with any activities that involve outdoor fires or create sparks, including campfires, grilling, and operating large equipment. Cigarettes should be disposed of and extinguished properly. Please heed any local burn bans.
