Scattered snow showers will continue this evening in the North Carolina mountain counties that aren't in the Winter Storm Warning or Advisory. The snow showers will also fall in Rabun County Georgia. Most locations that receive these snow showers will see from a dusting to around an inch of accumulation. However, isolated locations could pick up a quick 1 to 2 inches. The most likely areas to see significant snow accumulations outside of the Advisory and Warning areas will be across northern Buncombe County, including the Weaverville area, and across the high elevations of northern Macon and northern Jackson Counties in North Carolina, and northern and western portions of Rabun County, Georgia. With cold temperatures in place across these areas, icy patches will develop where snow accumulates or enough water lingers on the roads to freeze. Additionally, isolated to scattered snow showers could develop outside the mountains this evening...mainly along the I-40 corridor in North Carolina, where some locations could receive a dusting of snow. If traveling across the area tonight, be prepared for sudden deterioration in driving conditions. Slow down and allow for plenty of space between yourself and other vehicles if snow covered or icy roads are encountered.

An Increased Fire Danger statement is in effect for portions of Central and Eastern North Carolina from 10 AM Tuesday morning to 6 PM Tuesday evening due to low relative humidity values around 25 to 30 percent, ongoing moderate drought conditions, increasingly receptive fuels, and frequently westerly wind gusts of 25 to 30 mph. Outdoor burning is discouraged. Please refer to your local burn permitting authority on whether you can burn. If you do burn, use extreme caution and ensure fire suppression equipment is readily available.

The combination of dry fuels, low relative humidity, and gusty winds will lead to increased fire danger Tuesday. Relative humidity values will drop to 25 to 30 percent, accompanied by northwest winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph.

Coastal Flood Advisory issued November 10 at 3:15PM EST until November 11 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC

* WHAT...Up to 1 foot of inundation above ground level expected in low- lying areas near soundside shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Soundside locations along the Croatan, and Roanoke Sounds, near Manteo, Kitty Hawk Bay, and adjacent tidal creeks, and soundside areas along the Pamlico Sound from Hatteras Island north, and adjacent tidal creeks. * WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong westerly winds of 25 to 35 mph will bring the threat of coastal flooding of up to 1 foot above ground level along soundside locations. Greatest impacts will likely be felt early Tuesday morning into Tuesday afternoon with the threat diminishing near sunset Tuesday as the winds decrease.

Snow showers are possible tonight through Tuesday morning. Affected locations may see any bridges, walkways, and perhaps a few roads become icy once precipitation begins to fall and temperatures drop overnight. The first snow of the season is usually the most impactful for drivers. Slick spots will likely develop on roadways, especially bridges and overpasses. If you are traveling and encounter adverse winter driving conditions, reduce speed and make sure headlights are on.
