Special Weather Statement issued February 28 at 5:19AM EST by NWS Northern Indiana

Cold air entering the region today will result in strong gusty winds between 30 and 40 mph. A sporadic 45 mph gust will also be possible, especially midday into late afternoon. Be sure to take in or secure any lawn decorations, trash cans, or other light objects that can be blown around. Exercise caution while driving this today, especially if operating high profile vehicles on north to south oriented roads. With the cold air and strong gusty winds, wind chills will be down in the single digits and teens today making for a cold day. Be sure to bundle up if you need to be outside.

At 512 AM EST/412 AM CST/, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles south of Corydon to 6 miles southwest of Brandenburg to near Hardinsburg. Movement was east at 80 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Louisville, Jeffersontown, St. Matthews, Shively, Shepherdsville, Lyndon, Middletown, Douglass Hills, Hurstbourne, and Brandenburg.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...The following counties in east central Indiana, Fayette, Union and Wayne. * WHEN...Until 700 AM EST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 359 AM EST, radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible. - Some locations that may experience flooding include...
