FAQs
Q) How often is the map updated?
A) The traffic flow is updated at loadtime and upon movement outside the initial map view, or upon refresh of the page. Any incident markers are checked for updates approximately every 5-10 minutes, but you need to reload the page to load any new updates; the data provided may still be the same status/view as before. Information shown is as only reliable as how it is reported to us.

Q) The roads are backed up or closed, but the map does not show the reason why, what's the deal?
A) Municipal traffic monitors or GPS trackers may not be available, could be offline, or reports and alerts are not syndicated to media outside of the area to use on the map. This is especially true for rural areas. You are encouraged to leave a road conditions report to help others.

Q) I see traffic alerts in the box below for the state, but they aren't related to the area I'm in?
A) We attempt to display alerts as specific to the area as possible, however in some cases the data we receive will only allow us to provide it by county or even statewide.

Q) Are you an official source of traffic information?
A) We are not an official source of traffic or real-time data. We have contracts and licenses to display certain up-to-date information that comes direct from some DOTs in various states, and the traffic flow on the maps is provided by Google or MapQuest. However, the data shown here should only be used for light informational and reference purposes and not to make critical decisions. Your safest option on the web is to use your state-run traffic website, or to call the DOT traffic line for your state, local authorities, or the state's 511 number if available.

Portales Traffic Alerts
Title: US 54 northbound and southbound from mile marker 130 to mile marker 146
Description: Roadway construction is underway on US 54.The contractor will be working Monday thru Friday from 6:30am to 5:00pm. An 11' WIDTH RESTRICTION is in effect for both north and south bound lanes from mm 130 to mm 146. Motorists can expect one-lane closures in this area and are asked to observe construction signing and watch for personnel working in the area. Expected completion is Summer 2015. Title: New Mexico 174 from mile marker 2 to mile marker 4
Description: Roadway is impassible on NM 174 within the Glenwood area due to large debris that has covered various areas along the route from past rain and snow fall. The NMDOT is currently working on removing the run off, and will make any necessary roadway repairs once the area is clear. Updates will be posted as conditions change.

Title: New Mexico 247 eastbound and westbound from mile marker 0 Corona to mile marker 7
Description: Fence replacement. The Contractor will be working Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Motorists should watch for equipment and personnel in the workzone and adhere to all construction signage. Estimated completion is Spring of 2015. Title: New Mexico 549 from mile marker 23 to mile marker 25
Description: A portion of NM 549 east of Deming is CLOSED due to roadway construction. The contractor is currently doing reconstruction on the bridge along this route. The NMDOT has posted detours and traffic control alerting motorists of this workzone. Please proceed with caution.

Title: New Mexico 126 eastbound and westbound from mile marker 10 to mile marker 25
Description: DIFFICULT DRIVING CONDITIONS on NM 126 from mile marker 10-25 (from east of Cuba to the Fish Hatchery) Dirt road is very muddy in spots. 4-wheel drive recommended Visibility is good. Please drive with caution, reduce speed and obey all posted traffic signs. This event will be updated as conditions change.

Title: New Mexico 159 from mile marker 12 to mile marker 23
Description: NM 159 near Mogollon from mile marker 12 - 23 is now CLOSED for the Winter. Safety measures have been placed in order to secure the area for the traveling public. Please avoid this route until conditions change in 2015.

Title: New Mexico 368 from mile marker 8 to mile marker 17 Arabela
Description: NMDOT crew will be performing blade patch operations on NM 368 MM 8 to MM 17 on Friday April 17, 2015. Motorists can expect some delay and should watch for personnel and equipment in the area.

Title: New Mexico 344 northbound and southbound from mile marker 7 to mile marker 15
Description: NM 344 - Road work between Cedar Grove and San Pedro - Maintenance crews will be sweeping the roadway Friday, April 10, 2015. On April 13 through 15, contractor will be fog sealing operations. Motorists can expect minor delays. There will be intermittent lane closures with a pilot car and flagging operation. This work is scheduled to be completed on April 15, 2015.
