We’re looking at a busy weather weekend, with severe storms set to impact the Midwest and central/southern Plains this Friday. A strong weather system is moving east, bringing a cold front and a lot of moisture, which means thunderstorms are on the way. The Storm Prediction Center has identified parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley and the Lower Missouri Valley as areas with high risk for severe weather, including the possibility of large hail and tornadoes. Tornados could be especially strong in the Upper Mississippi Valley, while the central/southern Plains might see very large hail. As these storms move and grow, they could lead to damaging winds in the Lower Missouri Valley and the Middle Mississippi Valley. With heavy rain expected, flash flooding is a serious concern; rainfall could reach 1-2 inches per hour.
