Atlantic Hurricane Tracking 2026
Pacific Coast Hurricane Tracking
Atlantic Tropical Weather Overview
In the far eastern Atlantic near the west coast of Africa, a weather disturbance is moving westward with some areas of showers and thunderstorms. In the western Caribbean Sea, south of Cuba, there are scattered moderate to strong showers and thunderstorms moving west. Boaters and beachgoers in these areas should be aware of periods of unsettled weather with possible gusty winds and rain.
Gulf of America
A weather front is affecting the northern Gulf of Mexico and parts of the southern and southeastern United States, causing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms especially north of the central Gulf. The rest of the Gulf area is mostly dry with moderate winds. Those on the northern Gulf waters should prepare for gusty winds, lightning, and locally rough seas near storms, while off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, winds tend to pick up each night, causing choppier waters.
Caribbean Sea
Strong to near gale-force easterly winds and rough seas are occurring in the south-central Caribbean, which includes areas near northern South America. Moderate to fresh winds and moderate seas are found in the Windward Passage between Cuba and Haiti and around the Gulf of Honduras near Belize and Honduras. These conditions may create choppy waters for boaters and swimmers. East winds will increase each evening in these areas, so caution is advised.
Atlantic Ocean
The tropical Atlantic is mostly experiencing typical wind and sea conditions with moderate to fresh easterly trade winds in areas south of the southeast Bahamas and across the central tropical Atlantic. However, much of the region has drier and clearer air due to a large amount of dust coming from the Sahara Desert, which is limiting the development of clouds and showers. Overall, most areas west of the Lesser Antilles, including offshore near Hispaniola (Dominican Republic and Haiti), can expect normal weather with some stronger evening winds especially around the passage between those islands.
