Get ready for challenging driving conditions on Friday and Saturday as Hurricane Isaias makes its way through the southeastern region. Life-threatening impacts could affect travelers on Interstate 10 and Interstate 65 through the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama. Major rain and potential flooding will likely be an issue, making roads slippery and potentially blocked. Expect delays and road closures especially through Interstate 75 from Georgia into the Southern Appalachians late Friday into early Saturday morning.
Flood Alerts in Southwest and Southern California
On Saturday and Sunday, Tropical Storm Rachel's moisture could saturate roadways in Southern California and the Southwest. Heavy rain may hit Interstate 8 and Interstate 10 through the California deserts and parts of Arizona. Be cautious on US Route 95 in Nevada where flash flooding is possible. Avoid non-essential travel if you're in flood-prone areas this weekend.
Cooler Weather and Snow in the Northern Rockies
Saturday will see the last of the high temperatures as a major pattern shift brings cooler air to the West. Early winter weather might lead to slippery roads and snowfall in the Northern Rockies, especially along Interstate 90. If you're driving through northwestern Montana, be prepared for possible snow-related delays. The cold will extend into the Great Basin and Northern High Plains by Sunday. Reminder: Watch for Red Flag warnings in these areas as elevated to critical fire weather conditions may be present due to dry conditions
