National Traffic Forecast

Rain, Snow, and Cool Temperatures to Impact U.S. Roads 10-26 to 10-28
Updated Sun Oct 25th 2026, 1:36pm PDT

As we look ahead from October 26th to October 28th, traffic conditions will be influenced by a variety of weather patterns across the nation. Expect heavy rainfall in the southern High Plains and southeastern Florida, with possible flooding impacting Interstate 10 and Highway 95. Meanwhile, wet snow is forecasted for the northern Rockies and northern High Plains, affecting travel along Interstate 90 and State Route 287. Commuters can anticipate cooler temperatures along the East Coast. Stay updated and plan your routes accordingly!

Southern High Plains & Central Plains

This Sunday evening, those traveling through the southern High Plains should be prepared for heavy showers and thunderstorms. Areas south of a stationary front could experience ponding on roadways, especially on Interstate 40 and Highway 87. By Monday morning, the rain risk decreases but still expect some road slickness. A low-pressure wave will generate rain along Interstate 70, moving northeast.

Southeastern Florida

For our friends in southeastern Florida, heavy rainfall is expected to persist through tonight, with Interstate 95 likely to experience slowdowns due to wet conditions. The risk of heavy rain decreases by Monday but remains through Tuesday, so keep those umbrellas handy!

Northern Rockies & High Plains

Starting Monday, a shift from rain to wet snow is anticipated over the northern Rockies and higher elevations in the northern High Plains. If you're traveling on Interstate 90 or State Route 287, particularly in parts of South Dakota and North Dakota, prepare for possible delays due to snow accumulation and icy patches through Tuesday.

Pacific Northwest

Tonight, a low-pressure system brings rain and possibly some thunderstorms to the Pacific Northwest. Expect wet conditions along Interstate 5 and Highway 101 as rain moves inland towards Idaho by Monday. High-elevation snow in the northern Rockies will lessen by Tuesday, but travelers should still be cautious on mountain routes.

East Coast & Gulf Coast

Cooler than normal temperatures will linger along the East Coast down to the Gulf Coast tonight, impacting commutes on Interstate 95 and Interstate 10. However, a warming trend is expected to begin on Monday, providing relief for those in these regions.

Central and Southern Plains & Midwest

Expect much above-normal temperatures, reaching into the 70s and lower 80s, from the central and southern Plains across the Midwest and the Ohio Valley. This warm weather will continue over the next couple of days, making travel on Interstate 35 and Interstate 70 more comfortable.
