How to use the Tokio Traffic Map
A static map with traffic flow is shown first and to start using the interactive map you press the blue Load button above to go live.

Traffic flow lines: Red/White dashed lines = Closed Road, Grey/White dashed lines = Road Work, Red lines = Heavy traffic flow, Yellow/Orange lines = Medium flow, and Green = normal traffic. Black lines or no traffic flow lines could indicate a closed road, but in most cases it means that either there is not enough vehicle flow to register or traffic isn't monitored. Also, if you do not see traffic flow, you can zoom in closer to reveal localized data. If you are unable to pan the map, press here (to focus off of the map) and try again.

Traffic Incidents: Each icon represents a traffic event or incident such as road construction, closure (red circle with a white dash), or accident. In some regions there may also be live traffic camaras to view.

In known extreme weather events or accidents, the map may still show green lines, even if lanes or the entire road are closed.

Severe Weather and Wildfire Risks Across Plains - March 5th-7th
Updated Thu Mar 5th 2026, 6:11am PST
Severe Weather in the Plains and Midwest
Commuters and travelers should be aware of severe thunderstorms predicted today through Friday, affecting major routes like I-35 and I-40 from western Texas to southern Kansas. Expect potential flash flooding, especially near the Red River Valley and Ohio Valley areas. As storms move east, anticipate severe weather extending to parts of the Midwest on Friday. Keep an eye on road conditions and plan for possible delays.
Wildfire Risks in the Southern High Plains
Strong winds and dry conditions could elevate wildfire risks on I-40 and surrounding routes across eastern New Mexico and into western Texas through Friday. Be cautious when traveling in these regions and stay informed about any road closures or detours.
Wintry Conditions in the Rockies and New England
Parts of the central and northern Rockies, including areas near I-70 and I-80, will experience heavy snow today, with accumulations ranging from 6 to 12 inches. Travel safely and expect delays, especially in higher terrains. In New England, a wintry mix may impact routes like I-90 and I-91 from this evening into Friday morning. Freezing rain could lead to slippery conditions, so drive cautiously and allow extra travel time.
Above Average Temperatures in the Great Plains and East
Across the Great Plains and much of the eastern U.S., highways such as I-80 and I-70 will see temperatures 20-30 degrees above average through Friday. While no immediate weather-related road issues are expected, be aware of increased travel due to the pleasant conditions.
