The Transform 285/400 improvement project is designed to help reduce traffic congestion and enhance safety in the area near the I-285/SR 400 interchange in metro Atlanta. This priority project adds new flyover ramps, new collector-distributor lanes and other facilities to aid east-west travel along I-285 and north-south travel along SR 400.
The project will improve 4.3 miles of I-285 from west of Roswell Road to east of Ashford Dunwoody Road and 6.2 miles along SR 400 from the Glenridge Connector to Spalding Drive.

TIFTON – Work should start next week on changes to improve traffic flow and enhance safety at the busy commercial intersection of US 82/SR 520 and Hunt Road in Tifton.
Improvements include building a US 82 westbound right turn lane onto Hunt Road and realigning the Interstate 75 south off ramp with Hunt Road. Right now motorists who exit I-75 south and want to cross US 82 to reach Hunt Road have to shift to the right.
Installing the right turn lane will move traffic out of the through lane, which can prevent rear-end crashes. Realigning the southbound off ramp will reduce the likelihood a driver will travel into the wrong lane.
Drivers should expect shoulder and lane closures on US 82 west and the I-75 south off ramp. Work will be done during daylight hours, possibly Monday through Saturday, and shouldn't take more than a month to complete. The contractor is Jim Boyd Construction of Albany and the cost is $176,818.
This is a Georgia DOT Quick Response Project. These projects typically cost less than $200,000 and can be completed in a short period of time. The money comes from the state motor fuel tax and is primarily used for small operational improvements and safety and maintenance projects on the state route system.
MADISON - Over 13 miles of State Route (SR) 83/Bostwick Road from downtown Madison to the Walton County line will soon be resurfaced by E.R. Snell Contractor Inc.
The $3.97 million contract for new pavement and shoulder rehab starting at SR 12/Main Street extending to the county line should be underway with patching by Tuesday, Jan. 29. E.R. Snell plans on mobilizing first at the Walton County line and working back to Madison.
Driver should expect single lane closures and delays at certain times Monday through Friday to protect workers and the traveling public. A typical work day should commence by 8 a.m.
Work hour restrictions from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. are included in the section from SR 12 to March Street Monday through Friday.
Project completion is August 31, 2019. Georgia DOT expects the contractor to complete all patching and shoulder work prior to a spring return to finish the asphalt paving layers.
Weather permitting; Georgia Department of Transportation continues to improve highway infrastructure throughout Metropolitan Atlanta and statewide. As a result, work on construction and maintenance projects will continue this weekend.
In addition, with the convergence events happening in the downtown and Midtown area beginning Friday and continuing throughout the weekend; motorists are advised to plan ahead, expect heavy delays and seek alternate routes.
