Atlantic Hurricane Tracking 2026

Hurricane Isaias is currently about 160 miles northwest of the city of Progreso in Mexico, moving to the east-northeast. It has strong winds and high waves, creating hazardous conditions for boaters along the northern Gulf Coast. The hurricane is expected to strengthen and move northward, passing north of the Yucatan Peninsula and eventually reaching the northern Gulf Coast by late Friday or early Saturday, bringing stormy weather and dangerous surf conditions to these areas.

There is a weather disturbance in the eastern Atlantic Ocean near the west coast of Africa, bringing areas of showers and thunderstorms. Another wave is moving across the Caribbean, causing scattered rain and wind gusts, especially affecting the northeastern Caribbean and southern Puerto Rico waters. These areas may experience brief periods of unsettled weather with gusty winds.

Besides Hurricane Isaias, the northern central Gulf of Mexico is experiencing strong northeast to east winds with waves between 4 to 7 feet, especially near the central Florida Peninsula. The rest of the southeastern Gulf has lighter winds and calmer seas. Swells and rougher seas from Hurricane Isaias are spreading throughout the northern and central Gulf, which can be dangerous for boaters and those near shorelines.

The central and eastern Caribbean Sea currently has moderate to fresh winds coming from the southeast to northeast, with waves around 3 to 5 feet making for slightly rougher seas. Elsewhere in the Caribbean, conditions are generally calm with gentle to moderate winds and smooth seas. Winds are expected to increase slightly in the central Caribbean later in the week, bringing more active winds but still typical tropical weather.

There is a cold front moving from near the southeastern United States into the central Atlantic, bringing stronger northeast winds and rough seas, especially near the coast of northeast Florida. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are occurring behind this front, which may cause gusty winds and choppy waters mainly west of the central Atlantic. The area near the Azores experiences moderate winds and seas, while conditions are generally calmer farther east.
