Residents should be aware of rising groundwater levels and move belongings to higher ground. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 2 AM AKDT, Groundwater levels in the Rosie Creek neighborhood are high due to snowmelt and high river levels on the Tanana. Ground water will stay high or increase with the Tanana over the next week. - For Tanana River at Fairbanks: At 1:15am the stage was 25.24 feet. Residents of Circle should be aware that the breakup front is approaching, and it will likely be in Circle between Sunday afternoon and Monday afternoon. Water levels in Eagle during breakup were within bank, so the ingredients for a major or catastrophic flood like last year are not present. The jam was impounding water and causing rises on the Kuskokwim River in Kalskag. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 928 AM AKDT, the breakup front had moved below Kalskag. Residents should be prepared for high water and flooding if a jam develops. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - As of midday Thursday, ice is running at and above Aniak. River-watch reconnaissance shows that ice is still in place at Birch Crossing, downstream of Aniak. There is a potential for an ice jam to form at Birch Crossing Thursday afternoon or evening, which could cause flooding at Aniak. As of 11am Thursday the river was mostly clear of ice above Chuathbaluk. Ice jam flooding has high uncertainty. Impacts could range between localized high water and severe flooding. Now is the time to take precautions. These warm conditions could exacerbate flooding in the region. * WHAT...Flooding caused by snowmelt is occurring. * WHERE...Moose Creek, Trooper Creek and other small streams in Glennallen. * WHEN...Until noon AKDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Snowmelt flooding will continue to inundate the areas along the Glenn Highway, and may impact Snowshoe Drive as water flows under the Glenn Highway. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 859 AM AKDT, emergency management reported flow from Trooper Creek is threatening to flood the Glenn Highway and may impact transportation on the highway.
