At 940 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Homer Glen to 6 miles south of Manhattan to near Limestone. Movement was northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Strong thunderstorms will be near... Joliet, Orland Park, Lockport, New Lenox, Homer Glen, Mokena, Frankfort, Manhattan, and Ingalls Park around 945 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by these storms include Symerton, Wilton Center, and Bonfield.

At 803 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported water on several rural county roads. Doppler radar indicated rain with occasional embedded thunderstorms continuing across the warned area. The rain should continue through the rest of this evening. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen in southern and eastern parts of the county. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are probable in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
