Red Flag Warning
Red Flag Warning issued April 26 at 3:14AM MDT until April 27 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa NM
...CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ON SATURDAY... .West flow increasing again on Saturday as an upper level low pressure system crosses the Southern Rockies. Winds speeds increasing during much of the daytime hours, with gusts to 40 mph across much of southern New Mexico and far west Texas. Conditions remain dry during the day with relative humidity dropping to 10 to 15% mid-afternoon. Fuel conditions are dry due to lack of rainfall in the past month as well as the precedent drought status. The combination of weather factors and dry grassland, brush, and timber will lead to critical fire danger and risk of new fire starts and rapid spread. The National Weather Service in El Paso TX/Santa Teresa has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from noon to 9 PM MDT Saturday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. * WIND...West at 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. * HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent. * EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...5 to 6 Critical in South-Central New Mexico and Far West Texas desert lowlands. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
