Plenty of sunshine and a dome of heat will send temperatures into the low to mid 90s for highs across most of the area today and Thursday. When combined with higher than normal humidities, this will result in heat indices from 95 to 100 degrees for much of eastern Kentucky both afternoons. There are only scant chances for showers or storms to provide limited and localized relief through Thursday. Try to limit time outdoors during the afternoon period, when heat illness is most likely to occur. If going outdoors, drink plenty of fluids and take breaks out of the sun.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 105. * WHERE...Portions of south central Indiana and north central, northwest, and south central Kentucky. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ Thursday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* WHAT...Daily peak heat index values of 100 to 106. * WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ Sunday. * IMPACTS...Record to near record hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The Heat Advisory has been extended thru Sunday for the entire Quad State Region. Although heat index values will only be near 100, the prolonged period of late season hot temperatures and high humidity will continue to elevate heat-related health impacts.

In some cases, heavy rainfall produced by a severe storm can also lead to flash flooding. Do not drive vehicles through flooded areas.
