For the Appomattox Basin...including Farmville, Mattoax, Matoaca... Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Appomattox River above Farmville. * WHEN...From Wednesday morning to early tomorrow afternoon. * IMPACTS...At 16.0 feet, Water approaches back of homes on Old Plank Rd, upstream of gage. The Riverside Lot at Elm Street and North Main Street begins to flood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:35 PM EDT Tuesday the stage was 12.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 16.0 feet tomorrow morning. - Flood stage is 16.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 16.1 feet on 12/16/2018. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southwest Virginia, including the following counties and independent city, Carroll, City of Galax and Grayson. * WHEN...Until 115 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1014 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Piney Creek, Dixon Branch, Mill Creek, Oglesby Branch, Chestnut Creek, Little Cranberry Creek, New River, Crooked Creek and Glady Fork. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Galax... At 935 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Flash flooding has been observed in Mt Airy. Between 3 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 3 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Mount Airy... Flat Rock... Dobson... Pilot Mountain... Ararat... Cana... Bottom... This includes the following streams and drainages... Big Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Ararat River, Archies Creek and Beaver Creek.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Virginia, including the following counties and independent cities, in central Virginia, Chesterfield and City of Colonial Heights. In south central Virginia, City of Hopewell, City of Petersburg, Dinwiddie and Prince George. * WHEN...Until 800 AM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding including portions of US 460 in Prince George County. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 725 PM EDT, Flooding continues across the warned area. Between 3 and 7 inches of rain, with localized values of up to 10 inches has fallen over the past 24 to 36 hours. - Flooding impacts will continue overnight, even with little to no additional rainfall expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
