* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central Virginia, including the following county, Buckingham. * WHEN...Until 200 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Water over roadways. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1054 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Georgia Branch, Hatcher Creek, James River, Bear Garden Creek, Cole Creek, Crooked Creek, Gold Mine Branch and Halfway Creek. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. * WHAT...Flooding along the Hyco River caused by upstream dam release continues. * WHERE...A portion of south central Virginia, including the following county, Halifax. * WHEN...Until 300 PM EDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of the Hyco River and its surrounding tributaries is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding, including Highway 501, Woodsdale Road, Bethel Hill Road, Virgilina Road, East Hyco Road, Lowrey Road, Kingwoods Road, Buckshoal Road. It will take several hours for water levels to recede back within the river banks even after the dam closes the floodgates. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 928 PM EDT, an upstream floodgate release continues to cause flooding in the warned area. - Backwater flooding may also affect the following streams and drainages... Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 930 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
