Red Flag Warning issued March 28 at 2:17PM MDT until March 29 at 7:00PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT BETWEEN NOON AND 7PM FRIDAY FOR ALL OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY VALUES... ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING FOR ALL OF EASTERN NEW MEXICO DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY VALUES... Critical fire weather conditions are expected across much of eastern New Mexico on Friday afternoon and early evening. Strong westerly winds combined with several hours of relative humidity below 15 percent will allow fire to spread in dry and receptive fuels. Winds will increase by mid day before decreasing around sunset. Similar weather conditions are expected on Saturday, therefore another round of critical fire weather conditions are expected. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Warning...which is in effect from noon to 7 PM MDT Friday. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch is in effect from Saturday afternoon through Saturday evening. * AREA AND TIMING...This includes the Northeast Plains (Zone 104), Northeast Highlands (Zone 123), Central Highlands (Zones 125) and the East Central Plains (Zone 126) Friday afternoon through early evening and again on Saturday afternoon through early evening. * 20 FOOT WINDS...On Friday, west 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 30 and 40 mph. On Saturday, southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 30 and 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 8 and 15 percent each day. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY EVENING FOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY OF 15% OR LESS, 20-FT WINDS OF 20 MPH OR MORE, AND HIGH TO VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER ACROSS SOUTHEAST NEW MEXICO, THE WESTERN PERMIAN BASIN, UPPER TRANS PECOS, DAVIS MOUNTAINS, DAVIS MOUNTAINS FOOTHILLS, AND CULBERSON COUNTY... * AFFECTED AREA...Sacramento Foothills and Guadalupe Mountains, Chaves Plains, Eddy Plains, Lea, Guadalupe Mountains Above 7000 Feet, Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains, Van Horn and Highway 54 Corridor, Eastern Culberson County, Davis Mountains and Davis Mountains Foothills. * TIMING...Friday afternoon through early Friday evening. * WINDS...West 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph across the plains and Davis Mountains, and 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 50 mph in the Guadalupe Mountains. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 8 percent. * RFTI...4 to 7 or near critical to extreme. * IMPACTS...Avoid the use of open flames or any activities that may generate sparks, such as outdoor burning or welding. Extinguish cigarettes in vehicles. Accidental ignitions will have the potential to grow into dangerous wind-driven wildfires.
