In east central New Mexico, Quay, Curry, Roosevelt, and De Baca Counties. In southeast New Mexico, Chaves County Plains and Southwest Chaves County. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rounds of showers and storms will continue through tonight. Rainfall rates up to 2 inches per hour will have the potential to produce rapid runoff, especially during the afternoon and evening hours on Thursday. Soils are becoming increasingly saturated from persistent rainfall over the past couple of days, further elevating the risk of flash flooding. Rainfall amounts will generally range from 1 to 2 inches, with isolated totals up to 3 inches. - Rapid runoff and flash flooding will be most likely in complex terrain, below recent burn scars, low-lying areas, urban areas, normally dry arroyos, near rivers and streams, and in locations where the ground is already saturated from recent heavy rainfall. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Mesonet stations indicate that between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen over the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...All of Dona Ana and Otero Counties in south-central New Mexico, as well as the far northern Tularosa Basin in far eastern Sierra County, New Mexico. * WHEN...Through 6 AM Friday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deep moisture will remain in place through at least Friday morning, with weak disturbances producing periods of showers and thunderstorms. These storms will be far more localized than the rain we have already seen, and confidence in precise timing is low.
