Fog has developed early this morning, particularly in river valleys in the Bluegrass and Lake Cumberland regions. Fog is more widespread across eastern Kentucky, but should continue to gradually expand through sunrise. Expect dense fog currently along the Kentucky and Cumberland rivers to slowly spread to other areas as well. Motorists should use extra caution this morning and be prepared for a sudden drop in visibility, possibly to near zero. Reduce speed and use low beam headlights in foggy areas. Visibility in fog is expected to improve by 9 AM EDT.

Special Weather Statement issued May 1 at 4:21AM EDT by NWS Wilmington OH
Patchy dense fog will continue to develop this morning, especially in area river valleys. Visibilities of a quarter of a mile or less will be likely, especially along the river valleys. The fog will gradually lift and improve after sunrise this morning. Fog, with visibility below a half mile at times, will require lower speeds, and greater distances between vehicles. Do not assume the road ahead is unobstructed. Slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow more time to reach your destination safely
